Run Away From Porn!

Genesis 39:6-12 NLT

So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat! Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man, and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. “Come and sleep with me,” she demanded. But Joseph refused. “Look,” he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household. No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.” She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible. One day, however, no one else was around when he went in to do his work. She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding, “Come on, sleep with me!” Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.

God just dropped this sermonette in my spirit. Genesis 4:7 says that sin’s greatest desire is to have us. And just as Potiphar’s wife lusted after Joseph, porn lusts after us. Porn knocks on our door, cries out to us every chance it can get and practically begs us to come watch it. And when no one is around to hold us accountable, that’s when porn’s temptation increases, and it tries to grab us by our cloak. But we must not give in. We must snatch away from its grip. To climb into bed with porn is to commit adultery. That’s a wicked thing. That’s a great sin against God. When porn seems to be demanding our attention, we must run! Run away from the computer, run away from our smartphone, run away from the TV, run out of the house if we have to. We must do whatever we have to do to maintain our integrity and our right standing with God. #GodOverPorn
