Loving God, Yourself, and Others

Learn to LOVE GOD and LOVE SELF. It’s all about finding love in God, first, and in yourself second. Many times, we want venture out and find love in other people, first. But that’s backwards. Love starts at home. The Bible says the greatest commandment is to love GOD FIRST, then love others as you love yourself (Luke 10:27). But you can’t love others as yourself until you first love yourself. So, it’s loving God, loving yourself, then loving others.

The Greatest Commandments are to Love.

Furthermore, the Bible teaches in 1 John 4:8 that “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

A lot of times, the people who we desire to be in a relationship with, or who we desire to love us cannot do so because there is no love in them. The reason why there is no love in them is because there is no God in them. It is God who pours love into our hearts through the gift of the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5). Without the Spirit of God abiding in a person, they can only give us their affections which comes from their flesh and has limitations. Only through the Spirit of God can they give us legitimate, unconditional, agape love–And this love that comes from God never fails.

So again. God is Love. Find love in God, first. Then learn to love yourself with the love that you yourself received from God. Once you become filled with the love of God, you will become complete. You will become content. You won’t need to try to find love in anyone else, anymore. The love from God will have you on overflow… Subsequently, if you were to ever get into a relationship with someone else, your aim now wouldn’t be to FIND love in them, but to SHARE the love that you already have with them. You are now in a position where you don’t always have to take withdrawals from people; You are now able to make deposits into people!
