Some of us get into relationships with other people, not because we want to express our love for them, but because we are searching for love in them–to fulfill a void in our lives. We are looking for salvation, deliverance, hope, security, and etc. in the other person; And we expect them to be our way of escape from life’s pains. However, we quickly get disappointed when they aren’t there for us when we need them most.
Know this: That other person was not created to carry all of our heavy burdens for us. They were never meant to play the role that ONLY GOD can play in our lives. They may have the willingness or ability to help us with some things, but they have neither the strength nor the power to fix every single problem that we pose to them. They are not our savior. Jesus is our savior. We must pray to Jesus and ask him to save us from ourselves, and we must ask Him to release his anointing in our lives to break every yoke and burden that keeps us all bound up.
And Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29)
