It may be hard for us as the Church to accept certain people among our fellowship, just as it was hard and scary for the early Christians to accept Saul who was formerly persecuting and murdering Christians. They didn’t believe he was a true believer. They doubted his conversion. They didn’t know if it was a fluke. They didn’t know if he would backslide into his former ways. But they observed his life. They saw a consistency in his new walk, they saw him boldly proclaim the same gospel he fought so hard to silence, and there were others who testified on Saul’s behalf that he had truly changed, so the Church took a chance and embraced him.
God accepts the former murderer, rapist, child molester, adulterer, homosexual, drug addict, new age practitioner, transgender, Satanist, atheist, etc… If they repent and believe and display an undeniable evidence they’ve been saved by Grace, there is a place for them in God’s kingdom!
We have to accept these people into the Church, even if we do so cautiously at first, which may be wisdom. But we mustn’t turn them away. For such were some of us…. Yet we were saved…. Just like they are being saved.
We can’t pick and choose who we think is worthy of salvation. And thank God it’s not up to us! We would be so judgmental and partial with the grace of God! What if God was partial towards us and we were denied access into the kingdom because of our sins? But the grace of God is bountiful and freely given. To anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord, they shall be saved! Period.
