A War from Eternity’s Past

There is a war going on that has been in play since eternity’s past–before the foundation of the world. The war has been taking place in the spiritual realm (Heaven), and it is between the Lord God and his holy angels (aka The Kingdom of Heaven) vs. the adversary, Satan and his fallen angels (aka The Kingdom of Darkness).

The reason for the war is because Satan (previously known as the “morning star,” Lucifer) wanted to challenge God’s authority. Out of pride, Satan wanted to exalt his throne above God’s throne, and he wanted to receive worship, glory and honor for himself. But as King, God had to defend his throne, so he cast Satan (and 1/3 of the angels who chose to rebel with him) out of the Kingdom of Heaven, and they were cast down to the physical realm (Earth). Satan permanently lost his position in heaven, and was given an appointed time when he would soon lose his access to heaven as well.

The final outcome of the war is that God wins and Satan loses. God will secure his rightful place on the throne as ruler over the universe, and Satan and his army of demons will be cast into the Lake of Fire where they will remain in torment for the rest of eternity. However, Satan, in all his fury, refuses to go down to the fiery pit alone. Misery enjoys company, so Satan’s strategy is to turn God’s creation against Him so that they will share with him and his fate.

Having been cast down to Earth, Satan subtly persuaded and deceived Mankind (the sons and daughters of God, whom God created in his own image and likeness, and dearly loves) into sinning against God by telling them that they could become illuminated with hidden knowledge and gain the ability to become their own gods. When Adam and Eve chose to partake of the forbidden fruit, they ultimately betrayed their loyalty to God and brought judgment upon themselves–causing Satan’s fate to fall upon them as well. Their betrayal caused them to forfeit their God-given position, dominion and authority on Earth and their right standing with God. And just as Satan was kicked out of heaven, Man was kicked out of the Garden of Eden. Enslaved to sin, and infested with pride and rebellion, Mankind has now become God’s enemy and Satan’s ally. Whether they like it or not, Mankind has been recruited in the middle of the war between God and Satan–and they are on the losing team, condemned to eternal punishment, unless God himself chooses to intercede on their behalf–And he did just that.

Wanting to save his creation from the control of the Evil One, God came down to Earth realm himself, in the form of a man, Jesus, and he fought the principalities, powers and rulers of darkness that were on the land. He fought to redeem Mankind from the curse they fell into when they were deceived by the devil.

1 John 3:7-10
7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

The Son of God defeated the works of the enemy by walking in righteousness and in love. By laying down his life on the cross as a scapegoat, or sacrifice for Mankind, Jesus appeased the wrath of the Father and provided a way for mankind to escape from the condemnation and power of sin. Through the shedding of his blood, Jesus provided the forgiveness of sins. Whosoever receives the blood of Jesus and puts their faith in what Jesus did for them will become forgiven, justified, granted eternal life, and will be reconciled back into God’s kingdom. Those who receive the Son of God will receive His Spirit and will become born again– no longer to be called children of Satan, but will now gain the right to be called children of God. However, those who reject the Son of God will not see life, for they will still be classified as enemies of God. And they will suffer the punishment that Satan is destined for.

So, again, Mankind, we are in a war. And we may not want to be a part of it, but we are. We were born into it. But the good thing is that we get to chose whose side we will be on: God’s or Satan’s. Once you pick your side, your job is to recruit as many others to join as possible. You will either be recruiting people to walk in Love, Light, Humility, Truth and Righteousness or in Hate, Darkness, Pride, Lies and Rebellion. (Depending on which side you chose, you have favor. Remember: God wins, Satan loses.)
