Submitting to Authority

As a child, when you live under your parents roof, do you do whatever you want, or what your parents tell you to do?

As a student, when you are in school, do you do whatever you want, or what your teachers tell you to do?

As an employee, when you are at work, do you do whatever you want, or what your boss tells you to do?

As a civilian, when you are given a command by an officer, do you do whatever you want, or what he tells you to do?

Parents, teachers, bosses, and  police are all examples of authority in the natural realm. If we disobey or rebel against authority, there is a consequence. We can be kicked out the house, expelled from school, fired or arrested for going against these authorities. But if we obey these authorities, we will reap a reward.

It’s the same way with God. God is the highest form of authority. Higher than every form of authority on earth. He’s our creator, our Lord. We have to obey and submit to him since he has authority over us. To rebel against his authority will bring curses to our lives. But to obey him will bring blessings.
