So, my boss asked me to purchase him a Sugar Free Rockstar Energy Drink this morning because he left his wallet at home, and said he’ll watch my desk for me until I get back. I went to the vending machine to purchase the energy drink, returned to my cubicle and gave it to him. He said thanks, promised he’ll pay me back, then walk away. When I sat back down in my chair and looked on my computer screen, I saw that a Microsoft Word document had been opened and a message was written in it:

“Davon, you are AWESOME!!!!!!” And in small print, it read: “Have a great day and remember, allow nothing to dim your light!”

This made my day!!!! My boss was not only esteeming me because I brought him something to drink. He was esteeming me because of the LIGHT that he’s been witnessing inside of me! I’ve been coming to work EARLY, EVERY SINGLE DAY. I’ve been volunteering my services and doing things for him that’s not in my job description, I’ve done over time when he needed me to, I’ve been giving him words of encouragement when work begins to frustrate him, and I’ve also been sharing my testimony with him on the great things that the Lord has been doing in, with and through me. My boss is married to a woman, but he does stand for marriage equality. But I testified to him that God delivered me from that lifestyle and has given me a beautiful wife. Several times since I’ve told him that, has my boss called me into his office and asked me to give him marital advice. He said the wisdom I have on relationships is astonishing. WHAT?! A straight man asking an ex-gay man about how to have a successful relationship with a woman?!

1 Corinthians 1:27
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.

Colossians 3:22-24
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord. Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

I’m glad that I’ve been able to turn my #LightON in the workplace and that others are seeing my good deeds. To God be all the glory! I pray my boss turns fully to the Lord Jesus so that his light can shine too!
