Gotta Catch ‘Em All

I just had the most random daydream about Pokemon, but it was the Christian version. Lol. I was playing the role of Ash Ketchum. Jesus was playing the role of Pikachu, and everyone in the world who is not saved were playing the roll of the uncaptured Pokemon.

As I was out and about, I saw an unsaved person and I wanted to capture them. So I took out one of my Poké Balls and said, “Jesus, I choose you!” Then I threw the Poké Ball at the ground and Jesus popped out. Lol. Then I pointed at the unsaved person and said, “Jesus, use the blood!” Then Jesus poured out his blood over the person’s body. And as the person’s heart was softening up, they began to repent and ask for forgiveness. Then when I saw they were ready to be captured, I threw a Poké Ball at them and captured them for the kingdom of God. LMBO!!!

There are so many unsaved, hurt, lost and dying people in this world. Gotta catch ’em all! #FisherOfMen 😀

I thought this dream was so prophetic!

In the Pokémon series, the strength of a Poké Ball is determined by how much it raises a wild Pokémon’s catch rate…

Some wild Pokémon have a higher catch rate (i.e. Pidgey, Rattata, Caterpie, Ekans, Weedle, Zubat, Goldeen, Staryu, Magikarp, Vulpix, etc.) which makes it easier for them to be captured, but some have a lower catch rate (i.e. Lugia, Mew, Mewtwo, Moltres, Articuno, Gyarados, Onix, Snorlax, Blastoise, Charizard, Alakazam, etc.) which makes them harder to be captured. You can’t capture a wild Pokémon with a low catch rate unless you have weakened their defenses during a battle.

As a parallel, Jesus taught a parable about the sower (a fisher of men/Pokémon trainer) who went out to sow seeds (the word of God/Poké Ball). He threw seeds along the stony ground, the wayside, among the thorns and on good soil. Non-believers (wild Pokémon) who have received the seed on the stony ground, the wayside or among the thorns are those who have a low catch rate. It’s hard for them to become (saved/captured) because:

1) they don’t have any understanding of the Word when they hear it, so the devil snatches the Word from them immediately,

2) some of them hear the Word and receive it with joy, but because they experience an emotional-based conversion instead of a faith-based conversion, then whenever persecution or trouble comes, they fall away, and/or

3) they were trying to hold on to the Word and the World at the same time, and the cares and the wealth of this world eventually choked the Word up out of them.

But those who receive the word on good soil have a higher catch rate. These are those who hear and understand the Word, and they go out and produce fruit that last.

For people with a higher catch rate, it’s easy for them to get saved because they are humble, have a broken and poor spirit and are contrite at heart. God doesn’t have to do much to draw them in because they are receptive of the gospel message. However, those with a low catch rate require more effort to get saved. God has to go to battle with them to weaken their defenses. He has to uproot their pride, destroy their idols, take away their wealth, break down their strongholds,  and put them in a submission hold before they tap out and surrender their lives to Him to be captured.
